my happiness log for 2023
I am not someone that usually celebrates their successes or wins. I can identify progress, make improvements, and check off when I finish something but that's about it.
Here is me trying to fix that. Here are things that meant something to me this year.
In no order:
- Stay connected with Grandma over the phone
- ⭐ Complete running races (finished 10km and a half marathon!)
- ⭐ Go to 30+ gigs, mostly solo but also with new friends and feel comfortable with just myself
- ⭐ Move out!
- ⭐ Make new friends. I made these new friends at gigs, discord, reddit, and friends of friends!
- ⭐ Travel overseas. Japan and the US were a dream.
- Gain muscle!
- Go on a cruise (mystery trip) even though I swore I'd never go on one.
- ⭐ Get closer and have a genuine connection with my younger brother
- Give back by paying things forward. I helped two folks move and even hired out a van for them pro bono. I liked giving gifts to people :)
- I gave online dating a real shot and tried my best. Additionally I also decided it wasn't for me because of how it affected me.
- Organised and led various events. This is something I would normally never do. This ranges from social gatherings via discord to surprise birthday parties!
- ⭐ Found new passion in birdwatching and photography instead of treating them as surface hobbies. I went to events, improved my skills, and got involved with their respective communities. Psst if you're in Sydney and want to do some bird watching with some cool folks, check out 🦢 birb.watch
- I went on adventures! I was lucky to abseil over the Blue Mountains , kayak for the first time, and go camping!
- I journaled and wrote this year and discovered how much joy it brings me. There's a sense of calmness and grounding that I can't get from anything else.
