mend ourselves
the world might end sooner than i thought
everything is falling into place
nature tires every day
growing increasingly sickly
systems are starting to fail
young people are trying their best but
the lives entwined in a system built to keep us enslaved
continue each other's suffering
people are standing up
things are changing
but for the few that matter
they force their ignorance
delusion
by force
they think it's working
i have given my life to nothing in particular
my passions go unrealised
i get older but deceptively,
i think there is time
by following the very same order
the same delusion
that there is continuity in this current poisonous system
it's keeping me trapped
it's keeping us all trapped
what mark have i made on the world?
what mark can i make when everything breaks?
how is the shame of an unrealised and true self
greater than boiling oceans
greater than seeing birds migrate for the very last time
greater than the dying light of fading fireflies
greater than tyranny rising over love
greater than the distance rising over connection
greater than the massacres committed in gaza, sudan, congo
greater than man's vile hate perpetuating?
can i mend myself
so i can mend others when the time comes?
or will i fade
physically or spiritually
full of regret
as the bitter taste
fails to turn into a sweet hope
mend ourselves
so that we can mend others
there will be a lot of mending to do
a new hope to create
hope is the only future
